Singapore Diaries - Day 3
Day 3 was supposed to be most exciting!! We had heard about it, read about it and now we were going to experience it!! The Universal Studios !! The superstar of all attractions in Singapore. As usual, with a simple goal to make the most out of our day, we had decided to reach there quite early. In fact, lots of articles which we had read on the internet highly suggested the same when it came to The Universal Studios. VivoCity is a mall which is like a gateway to Sentosa from Singapore. We took a Monorail from there to Sentosa. We reached way ahead of the planned time.
It was around 9.15 a.m. and literally void of the tourist rush it generally has. Oh My God!! what a beautiful place it was!. We wandered around and explored places to have breakfast. We had some pastry and fresh fruits. We roamed outside The Universal Studios before the gates opened. When the gates opened, we literally felt like children again, let free out to play..
We were welcomed by the Minions. Supposed to be tiny cute creatures but here they were huge :-P We were lucky to have not missed the clicks with them. There are a lot many sections as you move inside The Universal studios:
- Hollywood
- New York
- Sci-Fi City
- Ancient Egypt
- The Lost World
- Far Far Away
- Madagascar.
The New York City and Hollywood at the very entrance of the Universal studios was amazing. We were just on time for the street show.A group of dancers performed some hip-hop dance and the energy was fabulous. I just felt like joining them.
The transformers ride is an amazing indoor ride. You will love it if you are a big fan of Optimus Prime. The ride is designed to make you feel like you are one of the robots in the movie. The effects and the environment created indoor are 4D and so realistic that you will feel you are living right in some fight scene of the movie..
The Ancient Egypt is one of the scariest rides I have ever been on. The mummies and the come-alive creepy creatures make it more scary. The world echos around you and tells "Save the Earth". I am not a big fan of roller coaster rides, but this time I did enjoy them, screaming my heart out in fright. This was incredibly scary and I had closed my eyes many a times during the ride. There were many twists and turns in dark with an anti-gravity sense that felt like we were going to be flung out. The whole atmosphere was so creepy. I had screamed my lungs out telling "Please take me out else I might get a heart attack!!".
Before you move to the next zone do not forget to take pictures with the Cleopatra and Army of Anubis. Anubis are dressed like incredibly tall people. They would be roaming around the Ancient Egypt veranda and showing their strengths.
We ran into a street performer which was a dinosaur on the back of the truck. It looked so real as it was interacting with a lot of people around.
Jurassic park was another package of surprise for us. They would take you in a round boat which will traverse in the small river. There would be dinosaur's around trying to scare you. They look close to real. Their screams will scare you. Don’t forget, before you get onto this ride, get ready to get drenched! Else there is no fun! You will have an adrenaline rush when the boat starts moving a bit fast and the circular tomb just closes and then Hydroelectric Generator compound will land you 5 - 6 feet down THUD!!!The lazy canopy flyer was fun too
If you are a fan of Shrek you will be amazed with Far Far Away. The castle is beautifully built. This castle was owned by Shrek and Princess Fiona. You will have a thrilling 4D movie waiting for you. You will also feel the donkey spit on you :-P
If you need something easy and relaxing, Madagascar is the place for you! You will definitely fall in love with this place sooner than anything. It is a lazy and relaxing ride which will show you the adventures of Madagascar.
You will love all the characters of Madagascar including those cute Penguins. The characters’ meet and greet is a lovely experience. It felt like I just met Alex, Gloria, Marty and Melman who have escaped from the Central Park Zoo and had ended up in the island of Madagascar.
Oh My God! What a way to end the day. We lived in an absolute dream world for a day. Later in the evening, we spent strolling around. There are 3 other stops in Sentosa. The Sentosa Merlion is also quite famous. The beaches are good and relaxing.
We returned back to the room tired. We thought of having dinner somewhere nearby. But to our surprise the Restaurants were closed by the time we reached.Ultimately we needed to survive on fruits.
Few Tips before we end the day:
Keep a complete day reserved for Universal Studios and don't combine it with any other plansGo early in the morning, everyone is fresh and is in a entertaining mood.Buy the tickets online so that you can avoid the 60 min rush for a 5 min ride! (Approx 70 SGD for unlimited rides)Take breaks, relax and enjoy. Don't hurry up.
